Mike has been messing about with graphic design for twenty years. He's worked on books, magazines, manuals, posters, websites, branding and interactive animation. He's headed a small team of designers but for the last ten years has been a lone trader.
Mike is very good at filtering out rubbish and getting to the point of whatever you're trying to convey. He also reads what he's laying out and tells you when it's wrong or doesn't make sense.
On the illustration front Mike will happily paint or draw on paper or screen. He once decorated a children's bedroom with giant Winnie the Pooh characters.
Using his infinitely more interesting middle name of Walter, Mike has written and illustrated a children's book, Grandad's Ashes, published by Jessica Kingsley. Occasionally he writes and illustrates for allworldknowledge.com.
Mike has a degree in Graphic Information Design and an MA in Computing in Design. He used to program but now he prefers colouring in.
Mike believes that Microsoft Word, olives and Margaret Thatcher are all manifestations of Satan on Earth.
Mike is Dave's brother. He's the older one.
Dave has over ten years' experience in software development environments, with various roles including Technical Author, Documentation Manager, User Interface Architect, Product Manager and Creative Architect.
Dave's an expert in translating Techie into English - whether for documentation or user interaction designs. He's not bad in the other direction either, after several years writing functional specs from marketing and sales requirements.
He's a webhead: slice Dave open and you'll find HTML, CSS and JavaScript running through his veins. He's worked with the web since 1993 and is experienced with client-side and server-side applications.
Dave worked on pioneering web technologies with IXI Ltd and helped integrate Windows and UNIX at SCO. At Tarantella he wrote specs and docs and designed user interfaces for web-based application access software. For ANT Software Ltd he designed and implemented a number of standards-based technology demonstrations optimised for low-spec embedded devices.
Dave has a degree in Computer Science from Downing College, Cambridge.
